FAQ's

These are the common recurring questions

Animation has many advantages. We were originally asked for an animated Guest Safety video as the yacht was under construction and the client wanted to see the video before they had guests onboard. We completed the video before the yacht was launched much to the delight of the owner, Captain and management company.
Animation also provides anonimity as in 'real' videos we generally use the crew as actors as they are conversant with the yacht, which makes for easier filming and a more believable product. However if a crew member leaves the yacht under any unwanted circumstances or the video needs updating, the cost of reshooting the video is prohibitive. As ex crew we understand the running of a yacht and are conscious of the restraints of the day to day operations.

We provide a list of subjects such as Alarms, LSA equipment and even helicopter procedures. We give you a questionaire to ascertain what equipment we need to model, including crew uniforms and all safety equipment onboard. This gives us an idea of what content we will need to develop and what you as the client can provide. Once the subject matter is decided upon we write a script so as to determine the length of the video. We can use any media from artists impressions, 3d files from the shipbuilder/designer and any promotional material already completed for the yacht; plus photography.

We have completed projects without the neccessity of being onboard, this in itself reduces downtime of the yacht. This is achieved by a combination of techniques including photography by the client. We provide comprehensive instructions at all stages of the development which are designed to reduce the amount of input required by the client.

As you can appreciate, we work with the most private of owners and always sign an NDA prior to starting a project. This is not only requested by the client but we also pride ourselves in protecting the identity of the client and the yacht from the media. We do however have certain examples that can be shown to a prospective client and we have an increasing amount of our own work ready to be put online.

We work out the cost of each video depending on the amount and type of content involved and the overall length of video, not on the length of the yacht. We have conducted considerable research into pricing of animation and can happily say that for the maritime knowledge and comprehensive artistic skills involved in our projects we cannot be beaten.
